New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman released a list of the top ten types of consumer complaints that his office received in 2017. For the twelfth year in a row, internet-related complaints topped the list.
Here's the top ten:
- Internet (including internet services and internet providers, data privacy and security, child safety, and consumer fraud)
- Automobile (including buying, leasing, repair, service contracts, and rental)
- Consumer-related services (including security systems, restaurant/catering services, and tech repairs)
- Landlord/tenant disputes
- Utilities
- Credit
- Retail sales
- Home repair/construction
- Mail order
- Mortgage
Government enforcement often tracks the issues that generate a great number of complaints, so these are some important issues for marketers to keep an eye on in the coming year.
