Earlier this month, Argentina dissolved the National Lottery, which had required marketers to register sweepstakes and contests that are conducted in Argentina.  As a result, these types of promotions no longer need to be registered.  

Because only local companies and foreign companies with registered, local offices, were permitted to register, many companies could previously not properly conduct a sweepstakes or a contest in Argentina.  This move should allow for global marketers to include Argentina in their promotion plans. 

It's not clear whether this is a permanent change or whether it's only a temporary reprieve and a registration requirement will be reinstated.
