Following last year's updated self-regulatory guidance in France that says that influencers must disclose their connection to advertisers in their social media posts, French President Emmanuel Macron vowed recently to get new legislation that bans "fake news" during election periods.
According to French advertising lawyers Michel Bejot and Caroline Bouvier, from Bernard-Hertz-Bejot, the President's statements are further evidence that transparency issues are going to continue to be an important issue for advertisers in the near future.
