NYC DCA Settles Charges Over Use of Promo Codes

In December, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs ("DCA") entered into a settlement with Brooklinen, a bedding company.   DCA had alleged that Brooklinen's subway ads, promoting $20 off plus free shipping with a promo code, were misleading because they did not disclose that a minimum purchase was required.  As part of the settlement, Brooklinen paid a $25,000 fine.

DCA is here to protect consumers from businesses who deceive or mislead consumers and hope that this announcement sends a clear message to businesses that these types of business practices will not be tolerated
