Facebook Pulls Trump Ads Connecting COVID-19 to the Acceptance of Refugees

Facebook said that it pulled several ads for the Trump campaign on the grounds that they falsely claimed that accepting refugees would create additional COVID-19 related health risks to Americans.

For example, one of the ads claimed, "Despite the health risks of a global pandemic, Joe Biden wants to increase refugees from Syria and Somalia by . . . 700%."

According to NBC News, Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone said, "We rejected these ads because we don’t allow claims that people’s physical safety, health, or survival is threatened by people on the basis of their national origin or immigration status."
