Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer announced that his office settled its lawsuit against Insan Healing and its CEO, resolving allegations that they falsely promoted radish paste as a COVID-19 cure.  (We previously blogged about this lawsuit in May.)

Feuer alleged that Insan Healing made false and misleading claims that the company's radish paste could enhance consumers' immune systems and protect their lungs.  For example, the complaint alleged that Insan Healing claimed, "Radish Paste is an immunity boost to your lungs!  A must-have product for the protection and prevention of the COVID-19, cold and flu season."

The settlement, which is subject to court approval, requires the defendants to provide restitution to consumers and to pay a $20,000 civil penalty.

In a statement, Feuer said, "Since the pandemic started, we’ve been taking aggressive action against those whom we allege spread false information and seek to capitalize on consumer fears.  Consumers who are misled into believing in a false COVID-19 prevention or cure might forego the steps we all need to take, from wearing masks to washing hands to physically distancing.  In this pandemic, our residents’ lives depend on accurate information."
