UK ASA Says to Expect Further Influencer Enforcement

The UK's Advertising Standards Authority ("ASA") said that it is planning to continue its influencer-related enforcement in 2018.  Guy Parker, the ASA's Chief Executive, said that the ASA is planning three phases of action:

1.  Research into how consumers understand advertising disclosures to make sure the ASA has the right standards;

2.  Providing more clarity to brands, influencers, and others about the rules; and

3.  Follow-up enforcement action.

It’s increasingly difficult to separate fact from fiction, the authentic from the phoney, right from wrong
