On Monday, July 12th, the International Advertising Association is hosting a virtual fireside chat on "Global Advertising Law & Policy Issues" with Teresa Moreira, the Head of the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.  The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET (which is 2:00 p.m. in London, 5:00 p.m. in Dubai, and 6:30 p.m. in Mumbai).

No registration is required.  The event will be live streamed on YouTube here, on LinkedIn here, and on Facebook here.

I'll be moderating with discussion with Ms. Moreira, who has been Head of the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch at UNCTAD since 2016.  Before that, she served as Consumer Director-General of Portugal.  We'll be talking about the "United Nations Guidelines on Consumer Protection," as well as a wide range of advertising-related issues, including online advertising, environmental claims, how stereotypes are perpetuated through advertising, advertising self-regulation initiatives, and cross-border enforcement cooperation.  We'll also talk about how the UNCTAD works with stakeholders to help support the development of consumer protection initiatives around the world.

This is IAA's third "Global Advertising Law and Policy Issues" fireside chat this year.  The first, with Stacy Feuer, Assistant Director, International Consumer Protection, U.S. Federal Trade Commission, can be viewed here.  The second, with Cathy Bate, Chief Legal & Policy Officer, Ad Standards Canada, can be viewed here.
