Facebook just announced that it will not accept foreign political advertising before the upcoming elections in Nigeria and Ukraine. Facebook said, "As we prepare for major elections around the world this year, we're continuing our focus on preventing foreign interference and giving people more information about the ads they see across our platforms."
Facebook also announced the following changes:
- In India, Facebook will launch an advertising library and enforce authorizations, starting in February, ahead of the country's general elections in the spring.
- In the EU, Facebook will roll out ad transparency tools before May elections.
- Globally, by the end of June, Facebook will provide a tools for advertising around the world.
Facebook previously announced changes to its political advertising procedures in the United States, the UK, and Brazil.
