Valentine’s Promotion for Vindictive Vermin-Haters

The Bronx Zoo has for some years run a Valentine’s Day fundraising promotion where, for a smallish donation, you can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after your beloved.  But this year, the San Antonio Zoo is going one better and has created a Valentine’s promotion aimed at the brokenhearted.   For just $5 you can name a cockroach after your ex and then watch live on Valentine’s Day as a bird or a reptile eats it.  Or, according to the zoo’s site:  “If your ex was a snake, you can even name a pre-frozen rodent after them, and we will feed it to a reptile for $25”, which you can also watch.  The zoo has anticipated some obvious objections in a Q&A section on the promotion's webpage.  According to the Q&A, the mice arrive frozen from a mouse farm and will be fed to a snake as part of the snake’s normal feeding schedule.  And if you’re worried about the roaches there is A LOT of info about their well-being.  Also, presumably to avoid privacy concerns, “only first names will be displayed during the feeding event.”  But, Brad, you know that when I'm watching that roach die, I'll be thinking of you.
