The Federal Trade Commission announced that, as of midnight on Friday, December 28, 2018, it will be closed due to the lapse in government funding.
The FTC said that all FTC events are postponed until further notice. The FTC also said that, until the FTC reopens, its website and social media properties will not be updated.
Many FTC services will not be available during the shutdown, including the National Do Not Call Registry and the Consumer Sentinel Network. Certain limited services will be available, however. For example, public comments can still be submitted.
While this may not have a big impact over the holiday weekend, there's no telling when the FTC will be back in business in 2019.
