FTC Kicks Off Military Consumer Month

The FTC announced that Military Consumer Month -- a law enforcement initiative that focuses on protecting military consumers -- kicks off on July 1, 2018.  

The FTC said that it plans to focus on imposter scams -- "when a con artist pretends to be someone you can trust to convince you to send money or personal information."  

The federal government's Military Consumer webiste provides additional information about issues affecting military consumers.  

It's an important reminder that the FTC frequently focuses on consumers that it perceives to be more susceptible to fraud.  When marketing to members of the military, or to others who may be more vulnerable for a variety of reasons, it's important to ensure you should direct advertising messages to them in a way that they can easily understand.
